Good comments about China. We in the US tend to view China from the Cold War perspective, but it is the world's oldest continuing civilizaton.

Like Europe and Japan, China faces a demographic problem of an aging polulation thanks to Mao's disastrous "one child" policy. They, again like the West, have a Muslim minority problem in their western provinces.

For the reasons you mention, and others, China is extremely important in our near- and long-term future--more important than Europe. Unfortunately the Congress is led by a Speaker who lacks the candle power to understand that fact.
